(Full-Time) Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Primary Counselor is responsible for individual service coordination for patients enrolled in Phoenix House Venice Adult Male Residential Services, including supporting a successful transition back into the community. In collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator, the Primary Counselor supports the successful integration of medical care, housing and income, employment assistance, substance abuse, and other services within individual treatment plans.

SCHEDULE:

  • Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/Human Services Required

  • CAADE Certification or working towards completion

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years progressive experience working as a case manager within a drug or alcohol treatment program or healthcare setting.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to provide individual and group counseling

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications

  • Knowledge of LA county housing and treatment resources

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong crisis management, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills

  • Ability & willingness to report to work on time & ready for work on each scheduled day.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to make decisions independently and communicate effectively when dealing with clients, families, other staff members, department heads, visitors, external agencies and community members.

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with appropriate documentation skills to complete reports, utilize data and communicate ideas constructively.

  • Ability to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with client/patients of Phoenix House.

  • Must show aptitude for working as part of a team.

  • Must maintain a valid CA Drivers’ License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.
