Phoenix House California is currently seeking a Per-Diem Facilitator to work in our California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) program. The CDCR program has established a Single-Level Substance Use and Disorder Treatment (SUDT) program. The SUDT program is designed for offenders who demonstrate the willingness to maintain appropriate behavior to take advantage of such programming and for offenders who have been referred to the program based upon substance use or possession infractions.
The goal of the Phoenix House California CDCR program is to address offenders’ criminogenic needs prior to release and to facilitate a successful transition back to their communities in order to reduce their likelihood of re-offending.
The treatment services include a wide range of substance use treatment components; assessments, treatment planning, case management, group and/or individual counseling, skill building, drug education, and relapse prevention.
The Per-Diem Facilitator shall:
Conduct groups addressing Criminal Thinking, Anger Management, and/or Family Relationships;
Evaluate and document the Participant’s progress weekly;
Meet with Participants to discuss progress, as needed;
Deliver the Program topics and program services utilizing curriculum approved by Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR);
Shall work collaboratively with the CDCR and institutional staff.
The Facilitator shall possess high school diploma or its equivalent; and
Have a minimum of one (1) year experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) services.
Prior experience providing Single-Level Substance Use and Disorder Treatment (SUDT) services to an offender population preferred, not required.
Knowledge of the dynamics of alcohol/drug related problems and their impact upon patients and their families;
The social factors involved in substance abuse;
The principles and techniques of rehabilitation counseling and their application to individuals possessing chemical dependencies;
Community resources available to persons with alcohol/drug related problems;
The physiological and psychological effects of chemical dependency;
General social, economic and health problems;
Ability to interview and counsel;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
Communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing;
Must maintain a valid CA Drivers’ License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy
