(Full-Time) Reporting to the Program Director, the prevention specialist provides culturally relevant school and community based behavioral health, prevention education, positive character development and intervention services to at risk youth and their families based on evidenced based practices which are appropriate to age, population, literacy, culture and development. The Prevention Specialist participates in all documentation and data collection as required for quality improvement and outcomes measurement. The Prevention Specialist collaborates with school personnel and teachers in professional and positive manner to achieve the shared goals and objectives of the project.
- Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm; schedule may vary
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, behavioral health social work or related field or equivalent experience
Bilingual Spanish Preferred
Two years’ experience working with youth in prevention, intervention, or education field required
Community Health Educator or Prevention Specialist certification preferred
Ability and willingness to report to work on time and ready for work on each scheduled day
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to make decisions independently and communicate effectively when dealing with clients, families, other staff members, department heads, visitors, external agencies and community members
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with appropriate documentation skills to complete reports, utilize data and communicate ideas constructively
Ability to establish and constituently enforce appropriate boundaries with adolescent youth
Must show aptitude for service and for working as part of a team
Computer literal; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
Demonstrated ability to utilize an electronic clinical management system
Possession of counseling personality skills as reflected by a Counselor Profile Assessment
Good organization skills
Demonstrated ability to learn
Ability to work evenings and weekends
Must maintain a valid CA Drivers’ License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.
