We are looking for a Recovery Support Specialist (Housing Specialist) Long Island City (Queens) location. Under the supervision of the Program Director, they would provide comprehensive case management housing support for the clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct housing assessment and continuously assess housing readiness.

  • Collaborate with vocational and clinical staff to ensure clients obtain the needed support services and succeed in obtaining permanent housing.

  • Source, contact and follow through with potential housing resources and leads.Establish new linkages with housing agencies, real estate brokers and landlords.

  • Advocate and refer clients to public housing, realtors, landlords, and community based agencies to ensure that clients obtain permanent housing within required time frame.

  • Conduct housing workshops for clients.

  • Monitor referrals to ensure clients are actively seeking and following through with the process of obtaining permanent housing.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Some college preferred

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum one (1) year related experience

  • • Familiarity with local housing market, including low-income housing preferred

  • KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Well organized

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
