We are looking for a Recovery Support Specialist (Housing Specialist) Long Island City (Queens) location. Under the supervision of the Program Director, they would provide comprehensive case management housing support for the clients.
Conduct housing assessment and continuously assess housing readiness.
Collaborate with vocational and clinical staff to ensure clients obtain the needed support services and succeed in obtaining permanent housing.
Source, contact and follow through with potential housing resources and leads.Establish new linkages with housing agencies, real estate brokers and landlords.
Advocate and refer clients to public housing, realtors, landlords, and community based agencies to ensure that clients obtain permanent housing within required time frame.
Conduct housing workshops for clients.
Monitor referrals to ensure clients are actively seeking and following through with the process of obtaining permanent housing.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Some college preferred
• Minimum one (1) year related experience
• Familiarity with local housing market, including low-income housing preferred
• Well organized
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
