This position reports to the Director, Facilities New York Region and is responsible to manage and coordinate activities of design consultants, construction management consultants and construction contractors. The Project manager will beresponsible for the day to day administration of Phoenix House capital planning activities, project design and development, and construction activity for major capital and minor capital expense projects, including remodel, relocation, and new construction. TheCapital Programs Management Departmentensures that Phoenix House plans, designs and builds capital projects that are functional, sustainable, well designed, and cost effective.

Manage and coordinate activities of various Phoenix House Departments to ensure that necessary approvals are obtained to implement capital projects.

Manage activities of technical and administrative staff for the implementation of a capital project.

Analyze, prepare, coordinate and support numerous Project Status Reports and other project tracking reports.

Resolve design and construction problems. Review changes and participate in change order negotiations. Approve invoices and other project charges. Prepare schedules and budgets for the performance of work.



  • Bachelor's Degree inArchitecture or Engineering plus a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in architecture, engineering, and/or construction project management.


  • Must possess demonstrated, strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and take initiative to effectively resolve.Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.

  • Must possess proven leadership, judgment, effective verbal, written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to motivate people


  • Knowledge of scheduling and estimating for construction trades (all disciplines).

  • Proficient computer skills (Windows environment - Microsoft Office, Auto-cad), strong business administration skills (i.e.; report and letter writing, time management).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices on capital projects. Detailed knowledge of project management techniques for capital projects, including scope control, cost estimating, cost reporting and schedule preparation.

  • Possession of a valid New York State Drivers license.
