We are seeking aRecovery Support Specialistfor apart-time under 30 hour per weekrole to support nursing and counseling staff in day-to-day operations in our Exeter, Rhode Island program.


  • Assist with client screening, admission, and discharge, orientation and assessment functions as assigned by Director.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Phoenix House's electronic health record

  • Facilitate client orientation, educational and recreational groups.

  • Collect and complete vital signs, urine screens, strip searches, accurately securing, and documenting client inventory.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and stocked unit.

  • Maintain client records and supply of documents on the unit.

  • Ensure client rooms and beds are cleaned and turned over upon discharge of each client.

  • Respond to client crises and emergencies as needed.

  • Participate as needed in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and required training to ensure continuum and quality of care.

  • Assist with quality assurance quarterly reports (i.e., fire drills, safety inspections, building and vehicle reports, etc.)

  • Participate in medication supervision and surveillance through observing the community in all areas of the property, supervised urine-analysis screening and in documenting events that need additional follow up.

  • Perform regularly scheduled bed checks on 3rdshift (every half hour).

  • Maintain current CPR/FA certifications and CPI annual training.



  • HS Diploma or GED Required.


  • Prior experience working with and assisting the client population in a substance use or mental health setting.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and interface with clients, staff, and family members.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Capable of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.


  • Understand concepts of self-help within the program and ability to encourage clients toward problem solving.

  • Set daily schedule and program activities.

  • Experience working cooperatively with both clients and other staff members.

  • Demonstrated patience and consideration dealing with client population.
