(Full-Time) Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Executive Director of California and Texas the Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for the management and administration of the fiscal and purchasing requirements of Phoenix Houses of Texas. The Director of Finance and Operations provides leadership and guidance to all operations in the region through a partnership with the SVP and other senior leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all financial operations and direct financial planning and structure

  • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required)

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws in regards to financial practices

  • Responsible for the financial viability of the organization and all its programs

  • Ensure all assets are protected at all times

  • Ensure all financial and valuable records are kept and maintained according to generally accepted professional practices

  • Act as liaison with outside audit firm; responsible for the annual audit

  • Manage the annual closing of the books and facilitate a timely audit by the independent firm

  • Attend all Board and Committee meetings as assigned in Dallas

  • Provide monthly financial reports to Finance Committee of the Board in sufficient time for review prior to committee and board meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

  • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in non-profit accounting preferred

  • Five (5) years’ experience in Accounting/Financial Management, Grant and Contract Administration and Capital Asset Procurement

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in spreadsheet software

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a collaborative style and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels

  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints

  • Must maintain a valid TX Drivers’ License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.
