(Part-Time) Reporting to the Culinary Manager, the is responsible for meal preparation, supervision of clients and ensuring the daily clearing of food service area and dining room.


  • Variable – Daytime, Evening, Overnight, and Weekends



  • High School diploma required


  • A minimum of 3 years food preparation and kitchen experience is required

  • Food Handlers Certificate required

  • Experience working with youth is preferred


  • Ensures timely and appropriate preparation of 3 meals and 2 snacks per day as scheduled per menu.

  • Maintains food handler permit

  • Assist with kitchen inspections, health department inspections, fire department inspections and documentation of kitchen equipment checks and verification. Routinely inspects and ensures all equipment is running in accordance with manufactures.

  • Follow routines for ensuring all food items are of quality content and will ensure proper rotation of food items.

  • Provide specialized menus for client events. Proved special needs diets as needed for clients.

  • Maintains and submits documentation in a complete and timely fashion to meet agency standards and undin requirements, such as the Nation School Breakfast Lunch Program.

  • Follow policy and procedure when preparing, cooking and serving meals according to Phoenix House policy and procedures, which reflect the minimum expectations according to the health department codes.

  • Must maintain a valid TX Drivers’ License, have proof of automobile insurance and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy.
