Phoenix House Patient Services Representative in Arlington, Virginia
SUMMARY: Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is looking for a full-time Patient Services Representative to assist with each admission into a Phoenix House residential or outpatient program. Responsibilities include verifying benefits and eligibility, counseling clients and/or family members with insurance and payment options, setting up payment arrangements to include informing clients of the available loan program, collecting co-insurance, deductibles, and copays according to Phoenix House procedures and guidelines.This position will work M-F, 10am-6pm, with some potential holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verify benefits and eligibility, and other financial resources if applicable by means of a web based application Verify TX, by phone or Payor websites.
Calculate co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles.
Collect continued stay payments
Accepts payments by credit card or cash, issues receipts and reconciles cash and payment reports daily
For returning client’s that have a prior balance; consult with the Billing Supervisor if missed during initial intake.
Provide required support in the admissions office on work days including federal holidays
Inform Front Office Supervisor to make necessary changes to improve customer service and efficiencies with the aim of constant improvement in the admission process
If the client’s insurance and/or personal resources are insufficient, the Patient Account Representative will inform the client of the available loan options from the approved Phoenix House lender and of appropriate Phoenix House patient aid policies.
Have the patient/guarantors complete all financial forms to include.

Cross trained on all front office positions including front desk coverage

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive knowledge of commercial insurance and Medicaid plans and benefits
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required
Proficient with EHR systems
Minimum 2 years previous experience working in a healthcare environment
Attention to detail and able to work accurately at a fast pace
Demonstrates ability to learn quickly
Exceptional organizational skills
Willing and able to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change
Makes timely, cost effective decisions
Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty
