Phoenix House Family Nurse Practitioner in Arlington, Virginia
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for administering medications, assisting physicians, developing client treatment plans, filing medical reports, and prescribing medications for treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide acute and chronic medical care to adolescent and adult substance abusers
Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess client’s clinical problems and health care needs.
Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on client’s condition.
Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive client care plan.
Submits health care plan and goals of individual clients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.
Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
May refer clients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
Lead client health education seminars.
Nurse Practitioner licensure (Virginia required)
Addiction or behavioral health experience is a plus
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Experience working in a psychiatric care setting or mental health/behavioral environment preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience promoting good health and maintenance

M-F 8am-4pm, on call weekends
